ME EN Domestic Internship

  • To get started, You'll want to see what sorts of opportunities are available. Click here to learn more.

  • Once you have found some internships that interest you, you'll need to apply with those employers for them.

  • Once you have been offered an internship and accepted it, you'll need to begin the process of obtaining approval from your department. To do this, you will need to speak with your Faculty Coordinator. Click here to find out who that is. For the Mechanical Engineering program you will also need to pick up and fill out an approval form which will need to be turned into your coordinator. Click here to obtain that form.

  • You will also need to get the syllabus overview for your internship course and sign it. Click here to find your course's syllabus overview.

  • You will need to make sure your Employer has signed a master agreement with BYU. Click here to learn more about that process.

  • Next you will need to download the Initial Information Sheet (IIS) onto your own computer, fill it out and then email it to your Faculty Coordinator. If you're not sure who that is, please refer to Step 3A. Please DO NOT fill it out in a web browser. Click here to obtain the form.

  • Finally you will need to fill out the online application for BYU. Once all this is finished you will receive an email notifying you that you can register for the internship course or if it is past the add/drop deadline, that you have been automatically registered for the course.

  • If you are an international student, you will need to check with the International Student Office to see if you are eligible to work. You will also need to schedule an appointment with your major advisor ONE MONTH in advance of starting your internship in order to make sure all your paperwork is in order. If you fail to meet with them promptly it may affect your ability to work.
